August 27 Detailed Patch Notes
This balance update was announced for August 27 and reached the live client with the August 28 server maintenance. The largest changes hit Mercenary charge skills, Shadowstrix burst damage, Sorcerer control tools, Blackarrow, Spore Arrow, Contracts, and tactical items.
At a glance
Section titled “At a glance”- Sorcerer has the broadest rebalance. Gravitational Vortex loses 40% of its Attack scaling, early Stardust Torrent stages are weaker, Meteor Impact returns faster, and control effects expire much sooner after enemies leave their areas.
- Mercenary charge skills are cheaper but less evasive. Higher Earthshaker and Skullcrusher charges cost less Energy, but charge dodges lose invulnerability and consume more Dodge Energy. Charged Skullcrusher cooldowns are longer.
- Shadowstrix burst is lower. Spinning Slash loses 10% damage and Flurry Strike loses about 20% across its three charge levels.
- Blackarrow gains a clear ranged buff. Both Spore Arrow firing modes deal 8% more damage.
- Contracts should finish faster. Kill targets and task counts are lower, equipment requirements use rarity instead of value, tactical-item objectives are broader, and the daily Sigil limit rises from 30 to 40.
Exact Mercenary changes
Section titled “Exact Mercenary changes”Mercenary
Uncharged Earthshaker and Skullcrusher remain at 10 Energy. Earthshaker’s level-1 charge falls by 42.9%, and both level-2 charges are half their previous cost. Energy is now spent when Earthshaker or Skullcrusher starts instead of later in the cast, so interrupted casts still cost Energy.
Leap Step and Dynamic Charge charge dodges rise from 10 to 18 Energy. Relentless Advance charge dodges rise from 5 to 10. All three also lose dodge invulnerability while charging. Thunderous Hammer and Skullcrushing Echo keep their 3s cooldown reduction per trigger, but each now has a 0.6s internal cooldown. Warhammer Sling’s base animation now plays 20% faster, but that only moves the projectile release 0.153s earlier - from about 0.918s to 0.765s - so the change is easy to miss in isolation. The Powerful Rock Sling charge unlock has a separate hidden interaction: even an uncharged release fires at about 0.490s, 0.275s sooner than the current base cast. Player testing reports that this makes Light Attack into uncharged Warhammer Sling a true combo. The unreliable Impalement follow-up was also fixed.
Exact Shadowstrix changes
Section titled “Exact Shadowstrix changes”Shadowstrix
| Change | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Spinning Slash total Attack scaling | 1.360370x | 1.224333x |
| Spinning Slash forward root-motion scale | 1.0x | 0.75x |
| Flurry Strike uncharged Attack scaling | 0.819790x | 0.650178x |
| Flurry Strike level-1 charge Attack scaling | 1.220050x | 0.976040x |
| Flurry Strike level-2 charge Attack scaling | 1.524257x | 1.219406x |
Spinning Slash loses exactly 10% of its total Attack scaling. Its forward root-motion scale falls from 1.0x to 0.75x, a 25% reduction to the animation’s movement component. The two charged Flurry Strike values fall by 20%; the uncharged value falls by about 20.7%.
Phantom Shift now grants its Movement Speed boost only when the teleport moves toward an enemy. Lightweight received jump-distance, dodge-distance, and trigger fixes. Wound Buildup now counts damage sources correctly when building stacks.
Exact Sorcerer changes
Section titled “Exact Sorcerer changes”Sorcerer
| Change | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Meteor Charm normal-projectile Attack scaling | 1.242381x | 1.125908x |
| Meteor Charm fast-projectile Attack scaling | 0.377071x | 0.371746x |
| Meteor Charm fast-projectile toughness damage | 14.845326 | 11.282448 |
| Meteor Charm incomplete-cast Energy restored | 10 | 12 |
| Gravitational Vortex Attack scaling | 1.335403x | 0.801242x |
| Stardust Torrent stage 1 Attack scaling | 0.255405x | 0.199129x |
| Stardust Torrent stage 2 Attack scaling | 0.379688x | 0.364500x |
| Stardust Torrent stage 3 Attack scaling | 0.525751x | 0.542710x |
| Stardust Torrent base stage duration | 1s | 2s |
| Meteor Impact cooldown | 21s | 18s |
| Stardust Tempest slow after leaving its area | 5s | 0.5s |
| Storm Impact dodge-distance reduction | -50% for 5s | -30% for 0.5s |
| Shadow Veil Stealth duration | 15s | 10s |
Gravitational Vortex is the sharpest direct nerf at 40%. Stardust Torrent shifts damage away from its first two stages and into stage 3, which requires Unending Torrent; the official notes say a complete channel keeps the same total damage. Its base stage duration doubles from 1s to 2s without that talent.
Meteor Charm’s normal-projectile Attack scaling falls from 1.242381x to 1.125908x (-9.37%). Its fast projectile falls from 0.377071x to 0.371746x (-1.41%), and that projectile’s toughness damage falls from 14.845326 to 11.282448 (-24%). The official notes describe this as a PvP damage nerf. Incomplete casts now restore 12 Energy instead of 10. Swift Strike no longer increases Meteor Impact’s base cooldown. Stardust Tempest and Storm Impact now lose most of their lingering control as soon as an enemy exits the area.
Exact ammunition, item, and progression changes
Section titled “Exact ammunition, item, and progression changes”Blackarrow, items, and Contracts
| Change | Before | After |
|---|---|---|
| Spore Arrow quick-shot Attack scaling | 1.179745x | 1.274125x |
| Spore Arrow full-draw Attack scaling | 1.294442x | 1.397998x |
| Lasting Pain crowd-control debuff extension | +0.5s | +0.25s |
| Soul of Return carried stack limit | 99 | 1 |
| Daily Sigils from Contracts | 30 | 40 |
Both Spore Arrow firing modes gain exactly 8% Attack scaling. Lasting Pain’s crowd-control debuff extension is halved from +0.5s to +0.25s. Its extension for other debuffs remains +0.5s.
Contract requirements were reworked across the shipped task data:
- Player-kill objectives use lower targets, and several execution objectives now count defeats instead.
- Equipment restrictions use rarity rather than item value.
- Contract totals are lower, objectives no longer require particular containers, and tactical-item tasks accept any qualifying tactical item.
- Descriptions now identify team-shared progress more clearly.
- The daily Contract Sigil limit rises from 30 to 40.
Tacticals, Seer, and other gameplay changes
Section titled “Tacticals, Seer, and other gameplay changes”- Revealing Bulb automatically targets nearby enemy players. The current client applies +20% Movement Speed from the regular item and +30% from Potent Revealing Bulb.
- Potent Revealing Bulb now uses a -100 Dodge Energy modifier, compared with -50 on the regular item.
- Fetid Jar has a larger radius and keeps its forced-downed-state condition active longer. The current client uses a 2m effect sphere and a 60s Nausea effect.
- Burst Rune now removes enemy invulnerability correctly.
- The Creation affix now stacks correctly.
- Withered Knight footsteps were fixed. Parry’s long-range dash no longer moves too quickly or launches the player.
- Enemy player names are hidden, selected low-level enemies were removed from Brandrgarde, and movement rubberbanding after dodge branches or broken objects was reduced.
Servers, interface, and fixes
Section titled “Servers, interface, and fixes”- Oceania is now available as a server region, and the blocklist limit is 100 players.
- Chat gained a jump-to-bottom control and clearer recruitment messages.
- A performance-diagnostics warning can appear when the game detects a performance problem.
- Purchases now warn when the offered payment exceeds the required amount.
- Controller layout icons, localized-text scrolling, match-found audio, Mist Lord room and spectator music, Soul Ferry extraction visuals, and several Hallowgrove and Brandrgarde collision issues were fixed.
- A class-wide safeguard was added to prevent abnormal physics launches.
How these values were verified
Section titled “How these values were verified”The exact table rows above come from a field-by-field comparison of the immediately previous live client data with the current live client data. Qualitative behavior and bug-fix summaries follow the official maintenance notes. The tactical-item bullets identify current-build values where the prior tactical packages were not retained, so they are not presented as before-and-after claims. Small unrelated representation changes were excluded instead of being presented as balance changes.
